David Kendall Bold Legal

His knowledge of the trial began when he was arrested several times in Mississippi in the summer of 1964 (but convicted only once) while trying to register voters. Over the years, Mr. Kendall has advised the Motion Picture Association of America, the Recording Industry Association of America, and several member companies of both organizations on various First Amendment, copyright, and other legal matters in judicial, congressional, and administrative investigations, as well as legislative proposals. He has represented a number of copyright holders in anti-piracy lawsuits against various Napster-type Internet services such as Scour, Aimster, Morpheus, KaZaA and Grokster. He represented the film studios in their 9-0 victory over piracy before the Supreme Court, MGM et al. v. Grokster, et al., 545 U.S. 913 (2005). He has also represented content providers in litigation against satellite, cable and over-the-air copyright verification.

He has represented AOL in a number of Internet-related cases and has advised various clients on matters arising from the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. After studying at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, graduating from Yale Law School, and completing his articling with Justice Byron R. White, he spent five years as an associate attorney at the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, Inc., where he litigated a variety of civil rights cases and defended a large number of death penalty cases. He has represented clients before courts, state supreme courts, the U.S. Supreme Court, and in state and federal proceedings following a conviction. He argued Coker v. Georgia, 433 U.S. 584 (1977), in which the Supreme Court declared the death penalty for rape unconstitutional.

He represented Florida inmate John Spenkelink, who had been sentenced to death, on numerous appeals and after the conviction, and represented the mother of Utah inmate Gary Gilmore in seeking a stay of execution in the Supreme Court. Gilmore vs. Utah, 429 U.S. 1012 (1976). He developed a legal challenge to lethal injection. Chaney vs. Heckler, 718 F.2d 1174 (D.C. Cir. 1983), rev`d 470 U.S. 821 (1985). David began his legal career in New York at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, an international law firm based in New York. David moved to Colorado in 2000 and worked in the Colorado office of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison before founding Kendall, Dickinson & Koenig (later Kendall, Koenig & Oelsner) in 2002.

David left KKO to form Bold Legal LLC in 2016. Founded in 2016, Bold Legal is a law firm based in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Kendall has been with Williams & Connolly since 1978 and was a partner from 1981 to 2014, continuing to act as the firm`s lead counsel. He has litigated a variety of civil and criminal cases at the trial and appeal level and has conducted jury trials in the District of Columbia, Indiana, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Alabama and Minnesota. He has appeared in trial courts in 23 states and has appealed to six federal courts of appeals, seven state supreme courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Kendall has represented lawyers and law firms in professional liability matters. He represented a number of clients during the savings and lending crisis of the 1980s and early 1990s, including accountants, lawyers and S&L executives, in civil, criminal and administrative proceedings. He began to represent the president and the woman. Clinton in November 1993, in a supposedly minor savings and loan case involving Whitewater Development Company, Inc. He has represented the Clintons on a variety of issues, including independent counsel, Senate, House of Representatives, FDIC, RTC, and Bar investigations, civil trials, and the 1998-99 impeachment, and currently represents them in various civil cases.
