The Institute of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Catalonia (IMLCFC), in collaboration with the Center for Legal Studies and Specialized Training (CEJFE), has launched a series of scientific publications on the different branches of forensic medicine. This year, within forensic medicine, we have taken up the challenge of publishing a photographic atlas that brings together the most common peculiarities in our daily tasks and also others that are not so common. Imaging in medicine – and of course in forensic medicine – is a fundamental source of learning. Therefore, the ImLCFC Management, with the support of Dr. Josep Castellà García, Head of the Forensic Medicine Department, entrusted the coordination of this project to Dr. Helena Martínez Alcázar and Miguel Galdo Ouro, Technical Specialist in Forensic Medicine. A first phase of the Atlas of Forensic Medicine is being published, which corresponds to Volume I: in particular Theme I (Uprisings of Corpses), Theme II (Phenomena of Corpses), Theme III (Persons Killed by Mechanical Suffocation), Theme IV (Injuries Caused by Firearms) and Theme V (Stab Wounds and Sharp Objects). We hope – we hope – that the publication will continue until the atlas is completed. Atlas commented with 400 color photos.
