She didn`t know what his options were and feared he would owe the IRS a large sum. The admissions specialist answering the phone knew Brenda needed legal help and worked with MLSA`s LITC tax lawyer to arrange a conference call between Brenda, John and the lawyer. Together, they found out how much John owed the IRS – thankfully, it turned out to be only a small amount. The admissions specialist also helped John find free tax help that would make it easier for John and Brenda to keep track of his taxes each year. Once the phone call with the lawyer ended, John and Brenda both breathed a sigh of relief, knowing they had better control over his finances.
