The learned parameters remain learned, so the same hardware mapping is automatically enabled the next time the same plug-in is instantiated, even if it`s months later in another project. That`s great in itself, but if you leave the Device Control Map window open while you`re working, it`s something like Novation`s Automap system`s heads-up display and updates to remind you of any ongoing mapping before you start shooting. As someone who forgot to program more MIDI controller keyboards than I would like to remember, I still can`t control my enthusiasm for such an easy, elegant, yet extremely useful feature. There are limitations: you can`t restrict or scale the parameter ranges, and unless you`re using a controller with endless encoders, the adjusted settings will still instantly snap into the button/slider position instead of providing smooth recording. But what the hell – it nails 95% of what most people want from using gnarled MIDI controllers, and with minimal effort and intrusion.
