The judiciary prides itself on the fact that it considers the « candidate as a whole » when selecting for the job. Selection is made based on many elements of a candidate`s background, including a demonstrated commitment to government service, academic achievement, leadership, experience in law review or advocacy, legal and clinical experience, previous employment, and extracurricular activities related to the work of the department. The programme enables LSI students to develop their networking skills by connecting and investing in a mentor. A Google mentor is an unbiased resource that is not related to the student`s work and supports the student`s development by expanding their Googler network, providing legal career advice, providing insight into external consulting firms, and establishing an authentic relationship. 1. The IRS Chief Counsel`s Office Summer Legal Program provides the office with access to the office by allowing law students to work under supervision and with the assistance of experienced tax lawyers. The most successful candidates complete a summer articling period between the second and third years of law school; However, law students who begin a full-time articling or graduate law program may complete an articling after graduation. The summer program offers students interested in public service and international law the opportunity to learn about L`s work as well as the department (and demonstrate their legal and interpersonal skills and insight). Summer students are usually assigned two offices to ensure that they become as familiar as possible with the various facets of L practice within the allotted time. LSI students are a diverse group of students with interests in all areas of law. We consider students attending law schools in the EMEA region. Current law students who have completed at least one full year of law school by the application deadline (part-time law students must currently be attending law school and have completed the equivalent of one year of full-time study by the application deadline) are eligible. Most candidates attend the summer between their second and third year of law school; Law graduates who complete a legal internship or graduate program in taxation or accounting (including a master`s program in tax law) may participate in the summer following graduation prior to the start of the legal articling or graduate program. We recognize that many students are eager to share the summer leading up to their third year between two employers in order to broaden their involvement in the practice of law. As a result, L is flexible when it comes to allowing students to schedule their internship at any time between May and September, with at least six consecutive weeks, although L may require summer interns to start on one of the few start dates indicated during the summer.
