Yes, the ripstop pants that come with my Atama Mundial 9 are super lightweight, but strong and durable. And unlike other ripstops I`ve dealt with, they don`t get super wet and sticky. As the title suggests, what is the best lightweight Gi for Comp, which is legal IBJJF. Please indicate your advantages and disadvantages of the respective Gi and weight. I felt like you could have ripstop pants, but not a jacket, until I read that rule before the World Championships, but I still didn`t want to test them. When I weighed myself, I saw people go through GI inspectors in full ripstop sig, mainly koral and JJPG brands. no idea what would make a ripstop gi legal and another not patches that are hard or rigid and hinder your opponent`s ability to seize are also illegal. Since there is no clear measure for this, everything is subjective. I REALLY want a ripstop gi (both gi-top and pants). I travel a lot and would like to have something light and something that can be washed and dried quite quickly.

Something approved by the IBJJF would also be nice! Recommendations? At the last ibJJF tournament, I was told that I had to change my gi because what I was wearing was not approved. I have a NAGA tournament and another IBJJF tournament this weekend. I`m trying to figure out if I should buy an approved ripstop or just bring two kimonos (ripstop and a double fabric). I really don`t want another rotating Gi and the 4-pound adjustment forces me to reduce the weight. My Kauai is everything I wear now. Since this is the same material (cotton and polyester) and braid as some of the approved kimonos, this should happen. Would I have leverage based on rule 8.1.1: That`s why I don`t do IBJJF events, everything I`m almost illegal, or they do a bit of BS so they can make you buy their equipment too expensive in open/global worlds, etc. I ride a Kingz ripstop every day. I didn`t know it was such a pain for those who ride with me. I`ll say it looks rougher and stiffer than standard fabrics. The positive thing about Kingz is that they are prefabricated and you can wash and dry them in the heat. I would have a thoughtless guard if you don`t have one.

I ride without because I`m cheap and poor right now, but it really hardens the skin. Patches on the forearm part of your Gi are illegal. Ripstop is great for traveling, but I can`t talk about what it`s like for daily exercise (although almost all of my gi pants are ripstop: they`re all still in good condition). I use mine regularly when I travel and it serves that purpose very well. The one I have is the gorilla `Hitman` (only 250 g/m²: I haven`t seen anything lighter yet), which is beautiful and simple unlike the Kauai. It`s a cheaper bargain ($89) and the company will actually get back to you. 😉 The image below suggests that all the tapes on the outside of the sleeves and pants are illegal and I know people who have been rejected by the referees because of this. If your patches are in the red area of the Gi in the following image, I highly recommend moving or removing them. Better to be safe than an apology, isn`t it? Most/all ripstop pants are made of pure cotton. It can then reasonably be assumed that any ripstop gi made of any cotton is good. Of course, the words IBJJF and reasonable don`t go together, so might as well pack a backup gi or two.

I wore a Progear Ripstop Gi Jiujitsu at the 2011 World Championships. No problem. haha nothing illegal on the Estilo tatami. This is the Gi I used at this year`s World Championships. I thought the Kauais were illegal for ibjjfI hate ripstop, they are so hard to grasp when they are soaked in sweat. Tatami estillo or Zero G all day 😀 The GASTROINTESTINAL pants should not reach more than 5 cm above the malleolus of the tibia (ankle bone). If the jacket is made of the same fabric as the ripstop pants (as on the Kauai), it is illegal. If that`s the ripstop-style fabric used by Koral and JJ Progear on their GIS, that`s fine. James Top Wise, only thicker ripstop jackets (those that do not look like thin pants) are allowed. HCK Ripstop Lite and Kingz 420 Ripstop are examples of Gi that would be legal. Unfortunately, the ripstop gi peaks of Kauai and Hayabusa are banned.

Yes, 10 oz pants. Both of them fit very well and I use them as often as possible. It`s illegal in IBJJF and it`s not pleasant to ride with someone wearing it because you can`t catch it and if you do it when they break the handle (which is really easy), it kills your fingers. The following colors are allowed: white, royal blue or black. Gis with tops and pants of different colors are not allowed; There is also no GI with a necklace of a different color from the rest of the top. He confirmed by email that these small close-ups (reinforcements) are allowed and legal in IBJJF tournaments! A Gi Jiu Jitsu tends to be a bulky object.

It`s usually thick cotton that makes a volume-hungry bump in your backpack. However, Ripstop`s Gis roll tightly, dry quickly and weigh almost nothing. In terms of quick drying and runaway, it met my expectations. The extremely thin fabric also means that it is ideal for hot weather. Link to ibjjf rules (PDF format): ibjjf.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/RulesIBJJF_v4_en-US.pdf pearl, crystal, gold, honeycomb, single and double fabrics are all legal, although according to the rulebook, if your Gi is too difficult to grasp, it may be disqualified, you may want to avoid a double, just in case. I don`t think it`s legal IBJJF, but you can email the owner to check this. I checked it here. How to copy and paste the short version: Hey Cicero – what is GSM on hemp? He has 10 oz pants, right? I agree, but MAN has skyrocketed its prices in recent years.

Even just the pants are now $70 – $80 per pair, IIRC I don`t have any myself, but the new Breakpoint « Flash » Gi is supposed to be super lightweight.
